Andrea Kennedy is a visual artist from Fayetteville, NY, who specializes in photography and sculpture.  She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Cazenovia College (graduated May 2017 as valedictorian), with a specialization in photography, and a triple minor in Art History, 3-Dimensional Studio Art, and Philosophy. Her work emphasizes on portals into alternative realities and unconventional ways of seeing. A dedication to traditional and analogue processes is embedded in much of her photographic work, though digital processes are incorporated. She is very interested in the pursuit of finding genuine human connection through portraiture. In her junior year at Cazenovia, she was the recipient of the Washburn Research Fellowship, and was the first student to have an accompanying solo gallery exhibition of the resulting series of large format film portraits, titled Exploring Gender. Her sculptural work spans multiple mediums and often explores the idea of diorama as portal. Sculpturally, she works with glass, wood, plaster, cardboard, and readymades. Her most recent major project featured a series of photographic sculptures for her BFA Solo Thesis Exhibition, titled Authentology. Andrea lives and works in Syracuse, New York.
